When you figure out the fuel problem. Please post. I didn’t know if it would like a regular boat engine does. Great job. What size is the engine. I was going to use a 19 hp on a 33 hp lower unit.

I just didn't tap into the right part of the crankcase for pressure. I was just trying to do it through the breather at the time. I ended up just using an electric fuel pump for a 4cl car with an inline "T" and a return hose to the fuel tank. Works great. Now I just need a faster pitch prop to get some more speed out of it.

Yes, this is Oklahoma. I launch from my house but you can get to the river launching from Lake Thunderbird.

What size motor did the lower unit come from?

BAD A$$! Seems like yours is the only one I've seen where the shifter works. The muffler should be a standard 3/4" so, you can use regular plumbing pipes to run it down into the water. There should be a nut on the leg (Lower unit) that you can tighten to hold the motor in place to keep it from twisting, prob is it will be a little harder to steer. Do you have any pictures of how you mounted/connected the motor to the shaft. e-mail me if you don't mind.. manuelz@netzero.net YOU ROCK BRO!!

I know its old, but I just saw your comment. Keeping the shifter was the most important part for me. Ill look for some pictures, but I just cut the bottom of the crankshaft off of the outboard and welded it to a bolt that threaded into the crankshaft in the lawnmower motor. It had a splined fitting that fit the driveshaft in the lower unit.

FRIGGIN' AWESOME!! The motor didn't sound like it was at full throttle, Check your connections to see if they can move farther than where they stop and check High speed and idle needle adjustments. I've been searching for 2 hours for a 15.5 Kohler boat motor video. You need to add tags to your video with (ALL THE INFO) Looks like you were moving pretty good for have a couple guys on the boat. Great video! did you do a build video? (I'm about to check your video list so no need to really answer)

11 mph on gps no matter the wind, current or weight. I think its an 8 pitch in that video. Ive got an 11 pitch but the hub spun, need to fix that. It would do 22 mph with the old 10 hp powerhead. Previous owner submerged it though so it died not long after i bought it. Live and learn. Using a lot of parts to fix up a '53 10 hp johnson.

10 hp lower leg, same as 15 and 18 of the era. Speed is not bad but i have the wrong prop, all bottom end. If i get one with a faster pitch i should be able to do a lot better. 14' boat, mod v, around a 60" beam if i remember correctly.
